Nepal approved the use of the Sputnik V vaccine

Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V approved in Nepal, writes Reuters citing the Ministry of Health of the republic. It is noted that the regulator approved the emergency use of the drug.

At the same time in January in Nepal, vaccination of the population with the drug AstraZeneca began, but it was suspended.

Today, the Sputnik V vaccine has already been registered in 60 countries and has the second highest number of approvals in the world. At the same time, a new, higher indicator of its effectiveness was obtained, which amounted to 97.6%. This is the result of data analysis of 3.8 million Russians vaccinated with two components of the drug, the Russian Direct Investment Fund specified. According to the results, morbidity from day 35 from the date of the first injection was only 0.027%.

“The real effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine may be even higher, which is demonstrated by the existing results of our analysis, since the data of the system of registration of patients allow for a time lag between the sampling (the real date of disease) and the diagnosis,” said Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Center.
